To empower Liberian youth through classical and cultural music education, blending tradition with innovation to inspire excellence, creativity, leadership, and a strong foundation in faith.

Vision:

To create a transformative music program that nurtures talent, preserves Liberia’s cultural heritage, and connects students to global opportunities.

What We Offer

Music Education Curriculum

Students learn to read, write, and compose music while mastering instruments. The curriculum blends classical music techniques with traditional African rhythms.

School Orchestras

Each participating campus hosts its orchestra, providing students the opportunity to rehearse, perform, and collaborate.

Performances and Showcases

Students showcase their skills through recitals, annual music festivals, church services, school and community events, and public functions. These performances celebrate their faith, talent, and dedication, inspiring audiences and strengthening community and national bonds.

  • Cultural Impact: Promoting Liberia’s rich musical heritage while fostering innovation

Student Testimonial:

“My name is Roberto G. Gonwokay, a proud graduate of CAN Leadership Academy-Montserrado. The Symphony of Liberia taught me to play the violin and express myself through music and faith, transforming my life forever. Now a Biology student at African Methodist Episcopal University, I give back by teaching younger students in computer and violin education. This program didn’t just change my life—it inspired me to help others find their voice and purpose.” — Roberto G. Gonwokay

Your Support Fuels Their Dreams

How You Can Make a Life-Changing Impact

Every note played, every song written, and every student empowered through the Symphony of Liberia tells a story of hope overcoming adversity. Yet, our journey faces critical hurdles: unreliable electricity, the high cost of musical instruments, and the need to sustain passionate teachers. With your help, we can keep the music alive.

1. Fuel the Music – Keep the Lights On:

In a country with unreliable electricity, powering the Symphony of Liberia relies on generators. Your contribution ensures students can learn, practice, and perform without interruption.

Your Impact:

• $50 fuels the generator for a week of uninterrupted classes.

• $200 provides a month of power, enabling rehearsals and inspiring performances.

3. Provide Instruments – Unlock Creative Potential:

Musical instruments like violins, guitars, drum sets, and keyboards are not just tools but lifelines of creativity and skill development. In Liberia, these instruments are rare, expensive, and often unavailable. Your donations—whether of new or gently used instruments—can change a child’s life.

Your Impact:

• $200 equips a student with a quality violin or guitar.

• $1,000 helps us purchase or ship a batch of instruments to Liberia.

5. Feed Hungry Musicians – Nourish Their Talent:

Many of our students attend music classes after school, often having had only one meal all day. Your support helps provide meals, ensuring they can focus on their education instead of their

hunger.

Your Impact:

• $100 provides meals for 40 students after class for a day at two schools.

• $1,200 sustains a feeding program for an entire month.

2. Invest in the Heart of the Symphony – Our Teachers: Our African music instructors are the lifeblood of this program, sharing their expertise and passion to transform lives. Your support helps us provide them with fair compensation, allowing them to focus fully on shaping the next generation of musicians.

Your Impact:

• $1,200 pays two teacher’s salaries for a month for two schools. Empowering them to build Liberia’s future leaders through music.

4. Sponsor Shipping – Bridge the Distance:

Getting these vital instruments and equipment to Liberia is no small feat. Each container we ship bridges possibility and reality for hundreds of students.

To support shipping costs, click on Container Shipment on our website from the donation dropdown menu.

How You Can Make a Life-Changing Impact

Your contributions are more than financial—they are acts of faith, hope, and love. You’re not

just providing instruments or fuel but empowering students to dream, grow, and thrive. You’re

showing them that their potential is limitless.
