842 Computer Training Center
“Building Digital Skills for Tomorrow”
Empowering Communities through Digital Literacy
Mr. Eric Wowoh and Mr. Desmond Ovbiagele established the 842 Computer Training Center in 2002 in Oru-Ijebu Refugee Camp in Ogun State, Nigeria, as a small initiative to teach fellow refugees how to use a computer. Today, it has grown into a powerful force for change, providing critical computer skills to Liberia's students, staff, and community members. Our mission is to bridge the digital divide and empower individuals with the knowledge they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital world.
The Journey of the 842 Computer Training Center
The 842 Computer Training Center has a rich history that began in the refugee camps of Nigeria. From a single desktop computer used to teach refugees in a small room to a fully established center in Liberia. Hundreds of students have now graduated, many going on to successful careers, businesses, and leadership positions in their communities.
In the Oru-Ijebu Refugee Camp, Eric Wowoh started the first classes with just one computer.
The program expanded with the help of the Salvation Army, who provided a generator, and the students learned in small intervals.
Today, the center in Liberia is a hub for learning, equipped with modern tools and training hundreds of students each year.
